July 28th, 2009 Undies on the line

Place: My Office

Poison: Chai

Favourite Things: New friends in new cities…

My friend Claudine and I wandered around Balmain on the weekend in Sydney, NSW and I was loving everything about new.

The new city I had found, new coffee shops, new bakeries, new friends, new views. The new.

Finding places where we are able to discover, explore and adventure into the unknown is such a great breeding ground for inspiration.

I found this row of singlets and big, bright, white undies on the line and I loved it. (It sounds like I am a voyeur into somone’s private washing line, (ahh yeah it is) but it was out there for everyone to see.)

Look, seek and you will find. Inspiration is there to be captured, you just have to look for it…

July 23rd, 2009 miss agustina

Place: Melbourne

Poison: Water

Favourite Things: my little laptop that has been on an adventure.

This week, I had the absolute honor and privilege of meeting one of my compassion sponsor children in Jarkata, Indonesia.

Her name is Agustina, her nickname being Tina, it was just one of those memorable days. A day I will never forget.

To see someone who I have written too for 5 years without ever meeting, alone is such a breathtaking experience. However to be confronted with the reality of her poverty and the slum that surrounds her as she walks everyday to school, took the wind completely out of my sails.

We truly have no idea how much we take the little things, like fresh water, a school with progressive education, waste removal that is santitary, a Dad who actually sticks around when the going gets tough…These children who are born into poverty, the lack of money is just the starting point, its the opression and depression that surounds and overtakes their lives, which is so completly unjust.

Miss agustina, I think of you everyday. I will never forget you. You are in my prayers and you have impacted my life much more than anything I can do for you.

Deeply retrospective of the 15 July 2009

July 23rd, 2009 enjoying the little things

Place: Qantas Club

Poison: cheese

Favorite Things: UNOH members and its vision

Well, I took my own advice and had 20 days of no phone, no internet, no facebook, no twitter, no email and I lounged with and loved the people of Bali.

My family and I spent a well deserved break in Bali and many massages and long walks later I feel so recharged and renewed and feel so excited about the future and its possibilities.

I have spent the last day or so in Melbourne at a Board meeting for the non for profit group UNOH, which is the acronym for Urban Neighbours of Hope. They spend their life living with and ministering too the poorest of the poor in Slums and tough areas around Australia and overseas.

The people I have encountered in the last couple of days are an absolute delight!

Life is so much richer when we partner with those who are truly making an impact in this world.

I am on my way to Sydney to speak in Nowra. I have never been there before and am speaking on the topic ‘Capturing your now’.

About living in the moment and capturing the inspiration that is available to each and everyone of us NOW.

Looking forward to meeting new friends.

Ps- left my laptop at the Board meeting and I was at the airport, so my laptop had to take a trip in a taxi by itself. Woops! some things never change.

Anyways, later

July 1st, 2009 Enjoy the little things

Place: the airport

Poison: diet coke

Favourite things: new angel perfume

I have spent the last few days with someone delightful and the best part about it has been the little things.

In life it’s not the big moments that define you, but the day to day moments. The capacity to sit in silence without any level of discomfort of having to speak because there is silence. The delight at watching a television program that is simply lovely.

Hand cream that smells like an orchard, the crunch of an apple that is fresh as.

Life is decorated by the little things and so often we don’t even recognize that they surround us.

Celebrate life with the ones you love enjoying the little things. Although I’m on my way to a family holiday which is a big thing, the delight of the daily, is mostly why there is a smile on my lips.
