| April 22nd, 2008 | the zoo |
Place: My office Poison: Long black Favourite Things: the flowers someone sent me…. I spent the morning with my nephew and nieces at the zoo and it was water to my soul. on the merry go round. at lunch… The creativity and the uniqueness of the animals, absolutely inspired me. My nephew jackson, is convinced he is becoming a zoo keeper when he grows up…And I already envy him. For those who know me well, I am not that keen about animals, from some tragic pet stories from my childhood. However, today I was lost in the bliss of the botanical and animal kingdom. The diversity, the colours, the noises and yes even the smells. It was breathtaking. roooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrr A Posted in Uncategorized | Comments Off

| April 15th, 2008 | be our guest. |
Place:Masters class Poison: Mandarin Favorite Things: Blue horse necklace I am more than excited. I have friends arriving from all over Australia ready for Tim and Beks wedding on thursday. Being able to find places for people to sleep, chucking out stuff from my room to create a clean slate, arranging dinner parties, finishing off birthday presents, is all the good stuff that creates the pleasure and pain of guests coming to stay. http://www.katespade.info/ (an amazing site) I found the most fabulous book last week at my local library and its called ‘Occasions’ by Kate Spade. The book is a series of three. There were fantastic suggestions and opportunities described in this book to make occasions less painful. Suggestions such as; Flowers create atmosphere no matter what type. A simple fresh towel, with a soap, creates a welcoming environment. A warm and hearty bowl of soup on New Year’s Day. A Christmas tree decked with vintage holiday ornaments hand-picked from flea markets or your favorite antique stores. Sometimes its just a little thing, that excites and changes your expectations of be my guest! Excited. A Posted in Uncategorized | Comments Off

| April 14th, 2008 | Masters….ahhh |
Place: the classroom Poison: Water Favourite Things: New skirt I made last night. (winter fashion, Im ready!) I am sitting in my first class of my masters course in leadership. Quite interested, but also the thought of essays, assignments and marking scares the life out of me. Its been at least 5 years since I have studied in this type of context, and I am easily distracted by the urgent, the tasks of the day, contrasted with the future and learning that I have the opportunity to learn and grow as a leader. How easy is it, for all of us to be overhwelmed by the now, and forget about the future. I can honestly say in my early 20′s I was very vision and goal orientated. As I striked my list off, and I moved towards my quarter century, I started to change in my drive towards the future. I am excited about thinking bigger about the future, learning about leadership and being inspired by people who are so much further down the leadership track than myself. I need to find more space to do this. It doesnt take much. Just a drive, pack some clothes and just go. | April 8th, 2008 | random moments: part 1 |
Place: My Office Poison: Long Black Favourite Things: My shoes I brought with two left feet and Im still wearing them! I thought I would start a new series of posts to freshen things up a bit. Called…Random moments! No very original I know, but totally amanda. So I was on the computer for 1 hour on skype to one of my nearest and dearest who shifted to Los Angeles at the end of last year. We are both okay with technology but definatley you wouldnt call us tech heads. Anyway, I spent most of the time, trying to work out, how to get my new camera working that is on my skype. We had her husband marcus looking at it, we discussed every way we thought we could get it working. But no avail. In the last 5 minutes of our conversation I realised that the camera was not plugged in! SMILE. Nearly as random as my two left feet story. I brought a pair of shoes from Kookai in paramatta, when I was in Sydney early this year. I wore the shoes for at least three days before I realised I was actually wearing two left feet. Hilarious.
